
By 11:00 am a sold-out crowd packed Irwindale Raceway in Irwindale, California, for the season opener of the D1GP Professional Drift Series—and they were not to be disappointed. The D1GP had come from Japan for the first real battle of the series and the first ever season opener on U.S. soil.
As the first cars wound up their engines and slid tires on fire around the first banked curve of the road course, the roaring crowd quickly rose to their feet and the event was on.
