The Grand Cherokee hasn’t strayed from the doctrine over three generations, providing outstanding off-road capability in a well-mannered, midsize SUV. Since its redesigned back in 2005, limited changes have carried over beyond the addition of the most luxurious Grand Cherokee to date, the Overland. The Overland boasts abundant platinum-look, wood, and leather trim, along with a generous feature roster that includes DVD-based navigation radio, ParkSense, side air bags, and trailer package. A modestly equipped Laredo with a 3.7-liter V-6 starts the range. Progressing through trim levels and engines sees a 4.7-liter, which is developed by Mercedes-Benz and can run on E85 ethanol, a 5.7-liter and a 6.1-liter offered, along with three 4WD systems. The Quadra-Drive II setup with electronic limited-slip differentials provides amazing climbing abilities, even with the mild factory-fitted tires. Performance enthusiasts will note that the large Hemi V-8 provides 110 more horsepower than the 4.7-liter, yet delivers similar fuel economy thanks to its cylinder deactivation system. For the ultimate in performance, there is the SRT8. With a full-time 4WD system, 420-horsepower V-8, lowered suspension, and enlarged brakes, the SRT8 packs the goods to face European challengers costing many thousands more. Additionally, a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6 is available.

Practical vehicle for northern winters, always feels safe. 4.7L V8 has great torque for boat towing. Excellent headlight night visibility especially w/foglamps. Excellent handling. Quality good so far after 10 mons 10k mis; our 2nd Jeep after good luck w/2001. MPG is "just ok" - 20mpg@70mph, 15 suburban, 13 winter city. 15mpg hiway boat towing. Can use E85.

Comments about autoMedia 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs:

I live in metro Detroit and got a great lease deal on my Grand Cherokee. Mine is the Rocky Mtn. Edition, special leather seats and wheel rims set it apart. It has been rock solid, no problems at all. The 3.7 V6 is kind of unrefined and a little bit under powered for such a heavy rig. MPG is not that great, maybe worth getting a V8 and only losing 1-2 MPG. Overall very solid, great in snow, commanding ride. Downside is poor mpg and the 3.7 v6. Price was outstanding, might only get such a deal in Detroit area.
