How do i know if i have a bad thermostat? It tends to get hot idleing and my air conditioner power varies it comes and goes on full blast. Does that mean my thermostat is sticking?

u said it gets hot did u check to see if the radiator is filled with anit-freeze. i have a 96 accord stick shift and the radiator was really bad and it use to get hot some times when i shift it to N but when i shift it back in gear it went down. so check the anti-freeze in your radiator.

If you remove the thermostat, drop it into some boiling water. This should open the stat. Then if you place it in cool water, it should close again. If it doesn't move, and it will be obvious, it is bad. I usually do this with a new one to make sure it works before installing. Could also be a bad water pump, or fan clutch.
