I've now driven my 2006 Chevy Impala 3LT with the 3.9 V-6 about 10,000 miles. It had 10,000 on it when I bought it. I get 22 mpg no matter what. According to hype, I was expecting more like 27 mpg for mostly Interstate commute type of driving. When it gets to 60 mph it feels a little like it has some type of governour on it ... it just seems you have to give it quite a bit of gas/time to get over that hump. I'm looking for a web site that might give me some help. I'm real pleased with low end performance, merging, passing, exhaust sound and the ride. Would keep the car at 22, but think it can be improved. I'm a fanatic about tire pressure ... checked that. Checked air filter too.
