1995 plymouth grand voyager transmission mystery

'95 grand voyager   3.3 liter   auto trans.  front wh. drv.   176,000 miles   about 45 mins. into a trip the trans. begins to malfunction. it will downshift and upshift unpredictably while at highway and all other speeds, winding the tach up to 3000 rpm, then right itself a few moments and then malfunction again. at stops the motor stalls while trying to reaccelerate into traffic. after placing the tranny in park, usually blocking an intersection, the engine will restart without problem and run strong, but within a few seconds the tranny malfunctions again. no fluid is leaking. brand new atf and filter. i'm getting some wheezing noises from engine/ tranny area      any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like solenoid problems, or faulty commands from the TCM, Do you have any codes in the TCM or the PCM ? How many miles on this trans at the time of rebuild? Was it one of the "service centers" that changed the fluid?
