Engine slow in providing heat, dash temp guage eventually stablizes in normal range. New radiator, thermonstat, hoses and a recent flush.

Either you've got an air pocket in the system or the incorrect or inoperative thermostat. Just because it's new doesn't mean it's working properly. Or your water pump is failing.
