Although Chevrolet had planned its official unveiling for Monday, photos have circulated throughout the blogosphere, revealing the production model that closely resembles the show cars we have drooled over for the past couple years.
Final information will be released Monday, but word has it the base 3.6-liter V-6 will produce about 300 horsepower, with the 6.2-liter V-8 cranking out more than 400 horses. The Camaro will be offered in LS, LT and SS trim, according to AutoBlog, though the initial photos show the return of the classic RS moniker.
With the Shelby Mustang, Challenger, imminent Camaro, and redesigned Mustang a year away, these are great days indeed for muscle car enthusiasts. Shame the economy and gas prices will steal the thunder.
The Camaro goes on sale in early 2009, with a convertible version due a few months later.
