autoMedia CARnival 12-18-09: This week in Auto Blogs

by Brandy Schaffels on Friday, December 18, 2009 08:00

Carnival Logo It's the week ending December 18, and we've browsed our favorite automotive blogs all week long to gather the highlights from each. In this week's CARnival, we've assembled a great collection of vehicles from this week's Los Angeles Auto Show, as well as other automotive news you don't want to miss.

2010 Ford Mustang GTThis cat's out of the bag: Thanks to a loose-lipped Facebookian and a quick follow-up post from Inside Line, AutoBlog  is predicting the return of the iconic 5.0-liter Mustang GT for 2011. Watch for more official news after the embargo breaks on December 28th!.

NAIAS PreviewThe Los Angeles Auto Show has barely ended, and we're already seeing previews for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Toyota is hinting at a new hybrid concept,  Mini is predicting a new Beachcomber concept,  and BMW is promising to show a new six-cylinder 7 Series.  It's only a few weeks away, so keep your eyes peeled for more sneak peeks!

Brian SweeneyMore personnel changes at General Motors this week, as Brian K. Sweeney is appointed general manager of its Buick GMC arm, effective immediately. LeftLaneNews has the scoop on Sweeney, who takes over for Michael Richards (who left his post as head of Buick GMC after just 8 days on the job).

GMC Acadia DenaliGMC announced this week that it will be extending its Denali package to include the Acadia crossover; When the new 2011 Acadia Denali goes on sale in the third quarter of 2010, it will be available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models, as well as seven- and eight-passenger configurations. Get the whole scoop at The Detroit Bureau.

Porsche PanameraSome love it, some hate it. Bloomberg named it the Car of the Year.  And regardless of what you might think, Porsche's Panamera IS on sale in the U.S. According to CarGurus, the Panamera has turned into a gold mine for Porsche, which plans to build 20,000 this year on the Cayenne production line in Leipzig.

jalopnik snowman massacreThe first big storm of winter rolled across the continent last week, dropping rain in Los Angeles and snow in Canada. When Mother Nature sends snow, fun loving artists sculpt snowmen. And then the snowplows knock them down. Yep, Jalopnik's got the carnage, on video.

And with that intriguing video to make you glad you're warm, inside, and safe from the plows, we thank you for joining us for this week's CARnival! Check back next week for another installment--until then, have a great weekend!
