Judging
With so many "Car of the Year" awards handed out in this country and around the world, most believe the most credible and meaningful are those given by juries of leading automotive journalists. Why? Because objective, experienced auto critics regularly test and evaluate new cars and trucks as part of their jobs, and they are presumably unaffected by advertising or anyone in the business of designing, building or selling vehicles.

It was just three years ago when a group of Asian, European and North American writers assembled a Steering Committee, recruited a jury of top auto writers from multiple countries, nominated 36 new-car candidates, conducted two rounds of voting and named its first World Car of the Year in February, 2005. They added the three category awards for 2006. The purpose of the World Car of the Year awards is to "recognize and reward automotive excellence on a global scale and make consumers aware of that recognition." Congratulations to this year's winners.
