Fit the two pieces together on the reverse side of the can, with the vertical strap behind the rectangular surround. Put the surround high enough to contain the can in hard cornering. Drill a hole in the top of the vertical strap to mount the can to the firewall, or you can attach it to a frame tube with a screw-type hose clamp if you wish to remove it between track events.
