Ram Interstate Rated Head
Raising the roof on a Dodge Mega Cab

There's a saying among pickup owners that every car wants to be a truck when it grows up. And what does a pickup become? Well, a big rig, of course. At least that's part of the idea behind the tow-tractor treatment of this Dodge Ram 3500 Mega Cab. Dubbed the "Interstate Rated" Ram by its creator, Performance West Group, the name was inspired by Dodge's legendary Job Rated Trucks.
For those not familiar these historically significant vehicles, they featured streamlined styling with a sloped windshield, long sleek front and rear fenders embossed with speed lines, and a sharp V-shaped grille.
True to the spirit of these wonderful designs of the Thirties and Forties, the Interstate Rated Ram boasts a special modification (a least for a pickup). Capping off the Mega Cab is a raked Aero Roof from El Kapitan/California Comfort Conversion Vans. While clearly inspired by the sleeper cabs common on 18-wheelers, this enhancement is the first of its kind for a consumer pickup, and creates a whole new look both inside and out. And this Aero Roof is not just a one-off concept, but will be available soon as an aftermarket upgrade for the Dodge Mega Cab and possibly other makes of pickups as well.
Continuing with the Job Rated theme of streamlining, the Interstate Rated features an SRT10 scooped hood, which adds to the overall flow of the shape. The grille gleams with vertical grille bars from B-Cool Billets, and flanking this nose treatment are custom-sculptured front fender flares that complement the mass of the large dually fenders in the rear. Further amplifying the big-rig flavor is the elimination of the rear door glass to create the look of a sleeper cab, while retaining full use of the Mega Cab's rear doors. Sherwin-Williams brilliant custom Road Warrior Red paint scheme is a fitting hue for this anything-but-subtle sensation.
For easier access to the Mega Cab, and also to preserve the clean bodylines, AMP Research's concealed Power Steps tuck under the door rocker panels when not in use. AMP's innovative new Bed Access Step at the rear simplifies cargo bed access as well.
