Diagnosis
It's easiest to diagnose this problem by using a stethoscope with the sound probe replaced with a metal tube of appropriate size and length. This method is very effective. Just start the engine and let it idle with the transmission in "Park" and the parking brake set. Then move the stethoscope's tube near the area of the flange/tube joint.
It might be necessary to have an assistant 'blip' the throttle, using short, quick successive applications of the accelerator pedal. If there is clear evidence of a leak in this area, the pipe assembly will have to be replaced. You may want to check with the Ford dealer of your choice for warranty repair consideration.
If you decide to tackle the repair yourself, make sure that the engine is completely cool before starting, and follow an authorized repair procedure outlined in an approved service manual. The level of mechanical difficulty is similar to replacing disc brake pads, so if that's within the range of your mechanical skills, then you should be able to accomplish this task. Just take your time and make sure to observe all safety guidelines and proper fastener tightening procedures.
