The all-new 2013 Ford C-Max is an alternative-energy compact minivan available in Hybrid or plug-in hybrid (C-Max Energi) form. A gas-powered version will likely be added to the lineup later. The fuel-efficient five-door Ford C-Max Hybrid is expected to deliver gas mileage numbers even better than Toyota’s Prius v (wagon), which nets a combined 42 mpg. The C-Max Energi is said to offer a 500-mile overall driving range, besting the Chevrolet Volt.
C-Max Hybrid and C-Max Energi standard features are seven airbags, including driver’s knee airbag, pushbutton start, active park assist, and SYNC with MyFord Touch. SYNC with MyFord Touch allows drivers via voice control to operate their phone, navigation system, climate controls and in-car entertainment. Ford C-Max Energi owners can access their vehicle’s status (state of charge, current range) and program charge settings remotely via smartphone.
The 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine combined with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack for an estimated output of 141 hp. Pricing starts at $25,995 when it goes on sale in fall 2012.
