The Corolla wagon was given a 21st-century twist a few years ago with the Matrix, a small wagon with a coupe-like spirit. The Matrix stands out for its clever interior packaging, providing a tall cabin with adventure-ready features like a 115-volt outlet in the dash. The rear seat backs and cargo floor are covered in a protective, rubbery material that resists scratches and is easy to wash. The second row folds completely flat to maximize available space, and the front passenger seat also folds down to enable long items to fit in the smallish car.
