Description:
Spawned from the Titan pickup platform, the full-size Nissan Armada competes with the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition, and Toyota Sequoia. Its greatest strength is the sole powertrain, a potent 5.6-liter V-8 with 317 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque coupled with a five-speed automatic transmission. Despite a 5,200-lb curb weight in its lightest configuration, the massive, American-built Armada delivers brisk acceleration and boasts an impressive 9,100-lb tow capacity. Likewise, handling is relatively responsive thanks to an independent rear suspension. The critical weaknesses are its interior and general build quality, though Nissan has been aggressively addressing these competitive shortcomings. The Armada is offered in three trims – SE, SE Off-Road and LE. Notable standards include seating for up to eight passengers, dual-zone automatic climate control, basic power amenities, keyless entry, HomeLink, power-adjustable pedals, and stability control. The SE Off-Road fits the Armada with essential gear for true dirt adventures, with skid plates, smaller wheels, fog lamps, transmission temperature gauge, Bose stereo, and leather seats. The premium LE heaps on the luxury details like a power liftgate, auto-leveling suspension, second-row captains seats, and power quarter windows. Myriad options packages can allow buyers to upgrade all trim levels.
