Description:
Now in its third generation, the Altima has been Nissan’s best-selling vehicle for the last few years, but this comfortably-sized sports sedan wasn’t always a record breaker. The first, and even second iterations of this mid-size tourer were poorly received due to a polarizing rear quarter design that left several potential buyers looking elsewhere. Realizing the nameplate’s shortcomings, the 2002 model received sharp, eye-catching lines in an attempt to spice up its formerly bland exterior. Fortunately for Nissan the plan worked and the Altima has been a staunch competitor in the mid-size sedan segment ever since, giving it enough cred for Nissan to debut the Altima coupe this year. Available in a range of trims, the Altima is offered with a 2.5-liter engine that generates an impressive 170 horsepower, which is also available in a tuned-up 175 horsepower version. A 3.5-liter engine that pumps out 270 horsepower is also available, as is a 2.5-liter 225 horsepower hybrid.
