2008 Mercury Grand Marquis LS 4.6L 224 hp V8 RWD 15/23 $28,325

Description:

The Grand Marquis is a spiritual descendent of the classic, rear-drive full-size sedans from the 1960s. Like its predecessors, this big V-8-powered car is in its element on long highway cruises and provides generous space for five, even six, passengers. Grand Marquis was significantly updated for 2003, with a new frame, suspension, and steering. The Grand Marquis evolution continues even today with a still fresh front fascia, grille, and trunk appliqué. LS models include 16-inch wheels and an overhead console including compass, map light and universal garage-door opener. Both Grand Marquis models – GS and LS – have a standard FlexFuel 4.6-liter SOHC V-8. In base configuration, the engine produces 224 horsepower—modest output compared against even a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry V-6, but the 272 pound-feet of torque helps the heavy car to move. An optional handling package boosts the horsepower to 239, and it replaces the fuel-efficient 2.73:1 axle ratio for the more aggressive 3.27:1 for improved acceleration.
