Description:
When Lexus began development of the first generation IS, it had only one goal: to build a vehicle that could compete with the segment-dominating BMW 3-Series. With rear-wheel drive, a stout V-6 engine and first-rate interior and exterior styling, the original IS 300 was the winning vehicle that, at least most would say, fell short of its goal. Fortunately for Lexus enthusiasts, the Toyota luxury brand was drawing on experience when it came time to redesign the now titled IS-Series. A more streamlined exterior, two engine options—both with serious power—and available all-wheel drive make the second generation IS a strong contender in this competitive segment. IS 250 and IS 350 offer options of a 2.5-liter 204 horsepower V-6 or a 3.5-liter 306 horsepower V-6. The newly added IS-F offers a 400 horsepower 5.0-liter V-8.
