Description:
The Honda S2000 continues its evolution, refining the core formula that made it both a daring Honda product and appealing sports car. The S2000 employs an independent suspension at each corner. Combined with a perfect 50/50 front/rear weight distribution and rear-wheel drive, the S2000 is a very agile machine that craves serpentine roads. Power is routed to the rear wheels from a high-strung 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine that produces a peak 237 horsepower at 7800 rpm. Torque also comes on deep in the rev range, hitting 162 lb-ft at 6800 rpm. The S2000 uses a drive-by-wire throttle control enabling more precise reaction to driving conditions. The small-displacement engine is teamed with a close-ratio, six-speed manual transmission. Driven mildly, as a commuter would do, there is a decided torque dearth below 3000 rpm. However, the car is extremely engaging in hard-charging conditions. To add a measure of safety, the S2000 now offers a stability control system that continuously monitors motion and can work with the engine and ABS system to help stabilize the car. Other notable features include refined seat and console designs, standard headrest speakers, and new wheels.
