The GMC Envoy SUV keeps itself sticking to the basics. Base model engine is a 4.2-liter 285 horsepower inline six-cylinder engine. Available powertrain is a roaring 300 horsepower 5.3-liter V-8. Both engines come standard with a four-speed automatic transmission. Leaving the decision of how much utility is enough utility to its shoppers, GMC offers the Envoy standard as a rear-wheel drive SUV and offers it with an optional 4-wheel drive drivetrain, allowing it to be pieced together as a street riding city driver, or a dirt road rolling rural ride.
