Celebrated as the original pony car, few vehicles have as rich and diverse a history as the Ford Mustang. First introduced in 1964, the Mustang resurfaced in 2004 as an all-new car from the ground up for the first time in more than 20 years. A stout chassis, an available 300-horsepower V-8 – up from the standard 210 horsepower V-6 – and sleek retro styling have brought the Mustang to the forefront in the eyes of automobile enthusiasts. Anthropologists of true Mustang will surely appreciate two particular available editions of the Mustang for 2008. The Mustang Bullitt, inspired by the Mustang driven by the character Bullitt in the 1968 film “Bullitt,” features a 4.6-liter 315 horsepower V-8. The second edition that’s sure to be remembered for decades to come is the Shelby. Available as a Shelby GT, Shelby GT500 and 540 horsepower Shelby GT500KR, the Shelby line takes Mustang back to its earlier days when Carroll Shelby created the Mustang Shelby.
