Description:
Not every automaker has the audacity to issue a full-size sport-utility vehicle when fuel prices are high. Capable of seating seven or eight "real adults" and related to Dodge's Durango, the Aspen is the first SUV to wear a Chrysler badge. The 235-horsepower, 4.7-liter V-8 engine can now run on E85 (an ethanol/gasoline blend). Chrysler's optional Hemi V-8 generates 335 horsepower but will operate on four cylinders during light-load conditions. Only one trim level is offered, but an option package includes leather and 20-inch wheels. Curtain airbags are standard. Chrysler's huge speedometer recalls some 1930s automobiles.
