| | Nissan's mini-car entrant is a subcompact entry-level hatchback that provides bountiful backseat space, competing against the new Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris. A sedan joined the original hatchback late in 2006. Nissan's 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine develops 122 horsepower. A six-speed manual transmission is standard. Four-speed automatic is available for the 1.8 S, but an Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) is optional for the step-up 1.8 SL model. With CVT, the Versa earns a 30/36-mpg EPA fuel-economy estimate. Seat-mounted and side-curtain airbags are standard. ABS comes in an option package. Options include Intelligent Key keyless entry/ignition and Bluetooth hands-free phone operation. |
