Large and powerful the current F-150 combines good road manners, refined cabin, and impressive work credentials in a diverse line-up. Although the Lariat SuperCrew is tempting, the value choice is the XL trim with the 4.2-liter V-6, which can be dressed up with package options to taste. Properly equipped, the F-150 carries a maximum tow rating of 10,500 pounds and a maximum payload capacity of 3,050 pounds. The challenge with buying an F-150 is to target the truck you need, rather than over indulge. For those preferring to overindulge however, Ford offers up its heftier pickup trucks, the F-250, F-350 and the F-450 Super Duty. The spectrum of available power ranges between the three models spans far and wide, starting with a 300 horsepower 5.4-liter V-8, moving up to a 362 horsepower 6.8-liter V-10 and capping off with a 350 horsepower 6.4-liter twin-turbo-diesel V-8.
