Description:
Cousin to Pontiac's Solstice, the enthusiastically-awaited Sky roadster debuted as an early 2007 model. A turbocharged Red Line edition arrived later in 2006. Only 50.1 inches tall, the sinewy Sky virtually screams racy road machine, capped by twin decklid nacelles. Rear-wheel drive like Mazda's MX-5, its closest competitor, the Sky holds a 186-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, with a five-speed manual or optional five-speed automatic transmission. A 260-hp, 2.0-liter turbo goes into the Red Line, which gets functional brake-cooling vents. No side airbags are offered. Scant cargo space nearly disappears as the fabric top stows below the rear-hinged decklid.
