Description:
If cool thrills on hot nights sound appealing, then Pontiac’s Solstice might be of some service. The first two-seater produced by Pontiac, the Solstice, powered by a 177-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder with five-speed manual transmission, and available five-speed automatic, has a classic American look to it that can be compared in many ways to the original Batmobile – sans fins of course. Top-up, or top-down, the slick factor of this little ride can’t be denied. With four-wheel independent suspension, and eighteen-inch aluminum alloy wheels included as standard equipment, this roadster, though lacking a bit in power, has the means to shake it side-to-side on the dance floor. Sport bucket seats with seatback storage, six-speaker AM/FM stereo with CD player, and dual frontal air bags also come standard. Optional features range from power locks/mirrors/windows, keyless entry, and cruise control, to fog lamps, leather seats, and steering wheel mounted radio controls – high SPF sun block, unfortunately, is not available from Pontiac. Optional powertrain is a 260 horsepower 2.0-liter I-4.
