Description:
The redesigned, much-improved Frontier shares basic F-Alpha platform with the Pathfinder, Xterra, and to a lesser degree, the Titan. This solid structure provides the foundation for King Cab and Crew Cab Frontiers offered in 2WD and 4WD. Base XE models are powered by a 2.5-liter 152-hp four-cylinder engine with a choice of five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. The other trim levels come with the laudable 4.0-liter 261-hp V-6, with either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic. Well appreciated in other Nissan applications, this strong, smooth engine gives tremendous V-8-grade power to the Frontier. The Frontier XE starts with just the basic equipment, such as roll-up windows and vent, rather than air conditioning, just like a real work truck. The SE adds core features, although power windows and locks remain optional. The Nismo trim is available in 2WD and 4WD, each driveline provides a step up in standard equipment and well-outfitted for off-road adventures. For serious duty, the NISMO has Bilstein off-road hocks, Dana 44 rear axle, and locking rear differential. Buyers wanting an SUV-like package can turn to the generously equipped LE, packing all the traditional electric goodies. Numerous options packages makes it easy to upgrade a la carte and personalize a Frontier.
