Description:
First introduced for the 2002 model year, the Jeep Liberty has changed little through the years, with arguably the most notable hardware upgrade being the rear suspension, and the expiration of the once available turbo-diesel engine option, leaving only one engine to remain, the 210 horsepower 3.7-liter V-6. Power from the Six is less invigorating than the numbers would suggest. Transmission options are a six-speed manual and four-speed automatic. Three primary trim levels make up the Liberty family, beginning with Sport, moving to Limited, and on to the distinctive Renegade. The Sport is the value choice, though there is an unmistakable draw to the Renegade. The flagship model stands out with a flatter hood and taller grille than lesser Liberties, and it has colored fender flares, large fog lamps, and side rails. Many options can outfit any Liberty, with such items as engine heater, skid plates, tow package, GPS-based navigation, moon roof, and traditional power amenities. Stability control is standard, working with ABS, traction control, brake assist, and roll mitigation.
