| | Intended for serious off-roading, Toyota's brand-new FJ Cruiser takes its model name from a renowned rough-country traveler--the FJ40--out of the company's early past. On sale since March 2006, the five-passenger FJ looks ready for grueling safaris and desert expeditions, powered by a 239-hp, 4.0-liter V-6 engine with a five-speed automatic transmission. 2WD models can have six-speed manual shift. Specifications bear out the FJ's off-pavement pedigree. Ground clearance for the 4x4 is 9.6 inches, with its standard 32-inch tires on 17-inch wheels.
