| | Billed as a "sport crossover SUV," Mazda's five-passenger CX-7 is said to incorporate "zoom-zoom steering/handling." That's the Mazda theme for a full range of vehicles. Mazda also claims "sports car styling" for the CX-7, led by an astoundingly steep (65-degree) windshield. Bodysides lack moldings, and this curvaceous crossover is actually related to the Mazda6 sedan. Turbocharging gives the 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine 244 horsepower. A high-mounted shifter controls the six-speed automatic transmission, which incorporates Sportshift. Three trim levels are available: Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring, with front-drive or Active Torque Split all-wheel drive. Side-impact and curtain airbags are standard. |
