Available as a sedan, and with some models, as a wagon, the 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a family-friendly option with a touch of luxury to it. The E350 and E500, with a 258-hp V-6 and a 339-hp V-8 respectively, are more than qualified to just move people around town. With seven-speed automatic transmissions, or five-speed automatics with 4MATIC all-wheel-drive, four-wheel independent suspension, and traction and stability control programs, the ride in any E-Class is certain to be as smooth as silk, even on roads that are as rough as rocks. The E350 and E500 are the only E-Class cars to be offered as wagons this year. The sedan-only E55 AMG gets a 469-hp V-8 with five-speed automatic with AMG SpeedShift in addition to AMG fine-tuning. Also available as a sedan only is the E320 CDI, with a 201-hp inline six-cylinder diesel engine with a five-speed automatic with Touch Shift transmission. With class, comfort, and power, the E-Class delivers style, satisfaction, and road authority.
