The Sweptside model was unceremoniously dropped early in 1959, after a bit over one full year of sales. It was succeeded by the Sweptline pickup. Today, once-glamorous Sweptsides are among the rarest postwar half-ton pickups. Figure on road manners akin to every other beam-axled truck of its era—not a buckboard, but certainly not a boulevardier either. Ironically, gussied-up trucks today are hot sellers. The still-classy Dodge Sweptside D100 was another good idea, just a bit ahead of its time.
