Performance
customized acura integra

Body mods are practically a requirement for sport compact enthusiasts. If you haven't added some ground effects, then you might as well stay home on cruise night. If you take that mindset to its logical extreme, you end up with the custom-molded conversion shown here. Owner Scott King didn't spend just a weekend bolting on a body kit, but seven months' worth of shaping to create this wide-body '94 Acura Integra.

No-Kit Fit
Scott can't take credit for all of the work, since Tim Pereira of Creative Customs did most of the heavy lifting. But Scott stayed right on top of the project. "I was there like every day, morning and night," he recalls. "I wanted to make it sure it turned out right. I've seen cars with a wide body that stick out and don't look like they fit. I wanted a factory look."

To give the car the right proportions, Scott and Tim worked together to modify small but significant details, such as relocating the taillights outward two inches, which required re-welding sections of the trunk, and also modifying the doors. For the latter, Tim explains, "We separated the trailing and lower edges of the skins from the door structure and pulled them out slightly. Then we welded in some filler plate, so the doors now flow smoothly into the fender flares."

Getting Graphic
Was it worth all that extra massaging and tweaking? "At car shows most people don't notice the difference," Scott admits. "But when an experienced body-man sees the car, he asks me a ton of questions about how we did it."

Other changes to muscle up this Integra were the addition of an OEM Type R sheetmetal front end, a Mugen Turbo Hood and front bumper, VIS Extreme skirts, and a modified Buddy Club rear bumper. In addition to having the beefcake of Vin Diesel, Scott's Integra displays a number of fine touches, such as shaved door handles and trim pieces, and a flush-mount Sparco gas cap. After all the body parts came together, Scott squirted on some House of Kolors Sunrise Pearl, with graphics done in Kandy Orange and Spanish Gold.
