VIDEO: 2013 Aston Martin Vanquish Means Business

by Ryan ZumMallenon 09.07.2012 16:03

When the new 2013 Aston Martin Vanquish first debuted back in June, we admittedly sounded a little meh about it.

That’s all changed today, as the iconic British automaker brings the grand tourer to life in a spine-tingling video. We highly recommend setting the video to HD and turning up your speakers. We’ll stop talking now.

If you’re in the market for something like the Vanquish, then 1) can we hang out? and 2) you certainly have a lot of other options to consider. For the value-minded, nothing says Bang For Your Buck like the Corvette ZR1. If the Vanquish is a little showy, maybe the Bentley Continental GT V12 is your style. You could always sell the Newport beach house and spring for the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta.

Nothing, though, quite combines the elements of style, performance, attitude and exclusivity like our friend the Aston Martin. Yes, the design may be a little awkward and yes, the powertrain is essentially the same from the DBS a few years ago. But sometimes you can through all that out the window and listen to your gut, and if the video above made the hairs stand up on the back of your neck, you’ve really only got one option.

This is what cars are supposed to be about. They’re supposed to make you feel something; they’re supposed to inspire you. You can read all the spec sheets and write Pros and Cons lists until your fingers fall off – but what does any of that matter if one car makes you shrug and the other makes you grin like you’re about to do something very, very naughty?

This doesn’t just apply to $280,000 supercars, it’s the same guiding principle that you should use to choose between a FIAT or MINI, or between a Lexus ES or Lincoln MKZ. Your taste and your style are unique; maybe it just takes something like the Aston Martin Vanquish to remind us.
