The Batman Kia Optima debuted in New York a few months ago, but there’s more to superheroes than just the superstar. Today, Kia unveiled their supporting cast of superhero vehicles to fight for a worthy cause.
The Kia concepts included vehicles designed in the vein of The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and Cyborg in association with DC Comics to shed light on their “We Can Be Heroes” campaign to raise awareness and fight hunger in the Horn of Africa. Click here to learn more about We Can Be Heroes.
Artist and publisher Jim Lee helped design the cars to ensure they stayed true to their respective hero, and the influences are immediately apparent. These aren’t cars that will see dealerships or public roads anytime soon, but they sure know how to make their presence felt.
The lineup includes The Flash Forte Koup, Aquaman Rio 5-door, Cyborg Forte 5-door and Green Lantern Soul. In person, it’s clear The Flash Forte is the most aesthetically pleasing of the group, with the Green Lantern a wild but interesting Soul, the Cyborg Forte simply ungainly and the Aquaman Rio kind of a weird choice for a road-going car. Nevertheless, the five cars join forces to form a formidable automotive Justice League that works pretty well together. Take a look at the photos above and let us know what you think.
Kia has hinted that even more hero-inspired vehicles could be revealed before their partnership with DC runs out within the year. The builds were carried out by West Coast Customs, RIDES and Super Street.
