If you close your eyes and imagine the most extreme production car in the world, and the 2013 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 doesn’t come to mind, it will now.
Photos of the ridiculous, apocalypse-ready Mercedes G63 6x6 began to emerge early this morning and the Internet is having a field day. The six-wheel drive SUV is built on the extended frame of the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon and uses the same 5.5L twin-turbo V8 engine with 544 horsepower and 560 lb.-ft of torque as the standard, four-wheeled G63 AMG.
With five locking differentials, a 30:40:30 torque split and 18 inches of ground clearance, the G63 AMG 6x6 can somehow sprint from 0-60mph in under seven seconds. If you see one coming, we recommend getting out of the way. Immediately.
A vehicle this crazy deserves more than just dune-busting performance. The interior is filled with carbon fiber, diamond-quilted leather and tons of legroom. The G63 AMG 6x6 is the production version of a military vehicle produced for the (who else?) Australian army and is about to make its way to garages nowhere near you.
Mercedes-Benz has only built two of the G63 AMG 6x6 thus far, one in white and one in matte gray, but are expected to build more for the Dubai-type crowd at a price of around $300,000-400,000 apiece.
