Lamborghini Veneno
No one was supposed to see the Lamborghini Veneno until Tuesday, but when we’re talking about a $4 million speed machine with a name that means “venom,” all bets are off.
Only three models of the Lamborghini Veneno will be produced, and we’re very sorry, but they’ve all been purchased already. The car above is the prototype and features a livery lined in red, green and white for the Italian flag, while each of the three customer cars will be lined in one of those colors to ensure that they are all completely unique.
It doesn’t get much more unique than the Veneno. Build on the chassis of the Lamborghini Aventador, the Veneno is powered by a 6.5L V12 engine bored out to produce 750 horsepower. If you ask us, that certainly sounds like power worthy of the Spanish fighting bull immortalized for its speed that killed a toreador in 1914. Lamborghini expects a top speed of about 220 mph, and judging by the extreme aerodynamic styling, it wouldn't be wise to doubt them.
While no one would call the Lamborghini Veneno a classically beautiful car, it’s certainly a design befitting the famed brand. Details like the splitting rear spoiler and enormous front intakes make it clear that performance is paramount, while we wouldn't be surprised to see the sloping headlights and unique rear fascia make appearances on future production Lamborghinis. The Veneno may not be an everyman exotic, but it could be a hint of things to come.
The Lamborghini Veneno will make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show later this week, so stay tuned for more photos and information as the frenzy begins.
