Kia Provoke Concept First Look

by Adam Burpeeon 01.27.2013 10:35

With the recent unveiling of the Honda Urban SUV concept car at the North American International Auto Show, Kia is quick to reveal their competitor to the Urban concept, the Kia Provoke concept, which will debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

The Kia Provoke is a dynamic and racy concept that will sport a coupe-like roofline and will likely appeal to the younger generation of drivers who tend to shy away from larger SUVs. Even with a coupe-like roofline, the Provoke still screams “crossover” with its rear-end that is quite similar to that of the Nissan Juke. The front-end of the car is host to an aggressively ridged hood above Kia’s “tiger nose” grille and a large front bumper. The high ridges along the sides only add to the aggressive nature of the design.

The urban crossover design seems to be taking off; they are efficient vehicles and they are a great balance between a sporty compact car and a mid-sized SUV. With the popularity of the Nissan Juke and Mini Countryman, it makes sense that both Honda and Kia are leaning towards bolder crossover designs as well.

The Honda Urban concept is scheduled to be released in the U.S. in 2014, and the Provoke may follow shortly after, although Kia has been secretive with the dirty details. Keep a lookout for the Provoke at the Geneva Auto Show; it looks like it’ll be hard to miss.
