Five Auto Tumblrs We Like This Week: Land Rover & Rat Racers

by Jessica Matsumoto on

People who say that young people aren’t into cars are just plain wrong, and the micro-blogging site Tumblr is proof – here are five auto-themed Tumblr pages we really like this week.

Time Wasting Machine: Let’s start off with the perfect Friday distraction -- the Time Wasting Machine.  Aptly named, this tumblr features beautiful interiors and exteriors of things that go “zoom” – mostly cars, but some planes and motorcycles to mix it up. [Time Wasting Machine]

Brett Sloan Photography: Brett Sloan is a photographer who has an eye for autos.  While he seems to have a penchant for Porsches, Sloan covers everything from rat racers to rally rumbles. More than just car eye candy, he also captures the unique people who share his passion for automobiles. [BrettCreates]

The Journey: Official Land Rover USA Tumblr: This ain’t no knockoff blog.  Beautifully shot editorial photos of Land Rovers, Range Rovers, and any other Rover you can think of.  Well, except the Mars Rover.  You’ll have to head somewhere else for your NASA wheels fix. [Land Rover]

Archaic Tires: Old, but never out of style. Archaic Tires features fully restored, classic European bellas doing what they do best – driving down picturesque roads and sitting in front of Italian villas.  While mostly consisting of photos of Italian staples like of Ferraris and Bugattis, there are some interesting surprises, like the 1971 Citroen SM Espace concept. Art of the Automobile: Cars are functional works of art, akin to a Wassily chair or an Akari table lamp.  Art of the Automobile celebrates the sleek styling of modern automobiles, both on the outside and on the inside.  We may love the classic lines of pre-1980s supercars, but when we see beads of water rolling off an Audi R8, our hearts can’t help but skip a beat.
