Give it up for opulence, as Rolls-Royce Motor Cars debuted the 2014 Rolls-Royce Wraith at the Geneva International Auto Show this week.
“The most powerful Rolls-Royce in history, Wraith promises the sense of adventure and speed that drove our founding forefather,” said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “But of course, Wraith’s starting point is luxury, refinement and quality, traits that remain as important to Rolls-Royce customers today as they were more than a century ago.”
With the Wraith’s fastback, two-door design, Rolls-Royce adds a little rush to its regality. Underneath its sleek styling, lies a powerhouse to back up its appearance. The 2014 Wraith has a 12-cylinder, 624 horsepower engine, which goes from 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds -- 0.3 seconds faster than its cousin, the Rolls-Royce Ghost.
A stable suspension and adaptive steering allows the Wraith to hug the road as its V12 claws up the pavement.
As expected with any super luxurious auto, the 2014 Rolls-Royce Wraith comes with an ample amount of high-end touches. Inside, the Wraith features premium, hand stitched leather and wood paneling. Some other highlights include adaptive headlights, heads up display, and voice-activated commands, which control everything from climate control to the GPS.
With the Wraith, Rolls-Royce also introduces a few new features. Originally an option exclusive to the Phantom collection, the Wraith will feature the Starlight Headliner, a roof lining embedded with over 1,000 fiber optic lights that mimic a twinkling night sky – you know, because moon roofs are so middle class.
Another first for the Wraith is the Satellite Aided Transmission (SAT). SAT uses GPS to anticipate driving conditions, selecting the appropriate gear for the terrain.
The only thing the Wraith is missing is a street-racing chauffeur. You’ll have to go to a different part of town for one of those.
Of course, with a Rolls-Royce comes a Rolls-Royce price tag. Though a few hundred thousand dollars less than the Phantom models, expect to shell out almost $320,000 when the Wraith goes on sale in late 2013.
