2014 Hyundai Equus Teased Before New York Debut

The car that brought value to the luxury segment will get a refresh of its own, as a teaser image of the 2014 Hyundai Equus popped up on the Internet today. The Equus has proven that even luxury buyers are eager to save a buck, and from what we can tell from the darkened photo, the new model will maintain a high-class air while updating for the times.

The prominent LED headlight and fog light displays will return, clearly, and upon first glance it looks like the 2014 Hyundai Equus will still bare major similarities to its predecessor. The flashy chrome accents under the headlight may be gone, the front grille may curve upward a bit and the profile may sport more athletic lines, but this is essentially the same Equus.

So how will Hyundai switch things up? The current generation Equus, while handsome, bore more than a passing resemblance to luxury heavyweights like the Mercedes-Benz S550 and the BMW 7-Series. In more blunt terms, it jocked their style. The result was a bold but rather busy front fascia, and even with a darkened image it looks like the 2014 Hyundai Equus will clear up some of those features. It will also be interesting to see if the side and rear can be made a little more unique and distinctive. Enormous turbine-propeller rims will go a long way toward making the 2014 Equus more contemporary.

The 2013 Hyundai Equus retailed for $59,250 for the Signature trim and $66,250 for the Limited. Expect the updated 2014 Equus to command a similar figure unless Hyundai really has some surprises in store. The 2014 Hyundai Equus will make its official debut at the New York International Auto Show later this month.
