We hope you’re ready for a pint-sized blast, because the Audi S3 Sportback is new and improved and maybe, just maybe, headed for the U.S.
The previous generation Audi S3 never did make it to American shores, but recently, Audi has been sending models stateside that were never available here before. As they continue to grow market share and chase BMW in the sales race, it behooves Audi to send a greater range of vehicles.
Expect an official announcement during the Geneva Motor Show in March, but with a new 2.0L TFSI four-cylinder engine making 300 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft of torque, it’s safe to say that the 2014 Audi S3 would be more than welcome.
Anyway, to the specs! That revvy little four-banger will also feature technology like dual injection and a valvelift system, to help the 2014 S3 achieve peak torque from 1,800-5,500rpm. Paired with the six-speed S tronic transmission, Audi expects launches from 0-60mh in just 5.0 seconds (the optional six-speed manual will take 5.5 ticks). Perhaps even more impressive, the 2014 Audi S3 is rated at 33.6mpg with the S tronic, and 34.1mpg with the manual.
As with all S models, the 2014 Audi S3 Sportback will feature quattro all-wheel drive, to enable dynamic driving in all weather and grip conditions. An advanced S suspension lowers the S3 by nearly an inch compared to the A3, and progressive steering keeps the 18-inch wheels turning with greater feedback as speed increases.
Clocking in at just 3,185 lbs. of curb weight, the new Audi S3 packs performance to back up its aggressive new looks.
