2013 Subaru Impreza WRX and STi Special Editions Priced

Orange you glad they’re not $40,000 each? Subaru of America recently announced the MSRPs for the 2013 Subaru WRX and the WRX STI Special Editions, both of which come in new tangerine orange and jet black custom paint schemes.

The Subaru WRX Special Edition will have the sticker price of $28,795 and the Subaru WRX STI Special Edition will be marked $34,795 – both of which are exactly $500 more than their comparable models the WRX Premium and the WRX STI.

Outside, there are few distinguishable differences between the two models. The most notable divergence is the spoiler on the WRX STI Special Edition, which dwarfs the more understated tail on the WRX Special Edition. However, the two sedans differences are more than just skin-deep.

Inside, both Special Edition sedans possess the Subaru touted BOXER engines, which are known for their low profile and perfectly symmetrical design, aiding with help with handling and cornering. The WRX Special Edition punches out an impressive 265 hp, delivering 244 lb-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm. 

Stepping up from its speed sister, the WRX STI Special Edition possesses a 305 hp turbocharged, 6-cylinder BOXER engine, a six-speed manual transmission, and the Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) version of the Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Other WRX STI Special Edition attributes are the Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) and a Multi-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system, which feature track performance-optimized mode for improved handling.

Get’em while they last, as Subaru will only produce 200 WRX Special Edition and 100 WRX STI Special Edition models. The WRX Special Edition line-up will go on sale sometime in Spring 2013.
