2013 Dodge Challenger R/T Redline: Spotlight On Performance

by Adam Burpee on

After a record sales year for the Challenger, Dodge set the stage on fire at the Chicago Auto Show with the new Challenger R/T Redline.  Reminiscent of the classic muscle car, the R/T Redline boasts a HEMI V-8 with 375 horsepower and an updated chassis for the optimal driving experience.

The Challenger R/T Redline is more stylish and dynamic than any of the previous models, bringing Dodge fans exactly what they want.  With a two-tone Red and Graphite stripe spanning from just behind the front wheel arches to the rear of the car and a grille surround that matches the color of the car (there are 4 options: Billet Silver, Granite Crystal, Bright White, and Pitch Black), the R/T Redline emits a sense of aggression and speed. In addition, the R/T Redline hosts 20-inch Black Chrome wheels lined with a red lip and inner backbone.

The interior consists of Nappa leather performance seats in Radar Red or Dark Slate Gray or standard Dark Slate Gray performance seats, depending on whether it’s the R/T Plus or R/T model. The rest of the interior is colored Dark Slate Gray.

Beneath the hood of the Challenger R/T Redline sits the powerful 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 Engine that produces a whopping 375 horsepower and 410 foot-pounds of torque that speeds the car from 0-60 mph in just over 5 seconds.  In combination with the engine, the Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission, power-tuned suspension, and performance disc brakes provide a powerful but smooth ride. There is also a 5-speed automatic model, which uses Chrysler’s Fuel Saver Technology to transition to a better, more fuel-efficient four-cylinder mode when the full power of its V-8 isn’t needed.

The Challenger R/T Redline has a wide range of features including performance-tuned steering calibration, Uconnect Voice Command, remote start, a USB port, and many more standard features. The best part about the Challenger R/T Redline, though, is that it will be here by April, just in time for spring with a starting price of $31,990 for the R/T and $33,990 for the R/T Plus.
