New 2015 Ford Focus ST to Debut at Goodwood

Stanley Yee on

The new 2015 Ford Focus ST will make its first official debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The hot hatch will tackle the famous Goodwood hill climb starting on June 27.

Europeans will already be familiar with the Focus ST, as it has been a part of the Ford lineup since 2002, with over 140,000 units sold. We in the States have only been getting the ST since the 2013 model year, but it has been a success ever since. While details are extremely limited, it is known that the new Focus ST will be built on the facelifted Focus platform, but as of yet no information has been given regarding chassis or powertrain changes. more

2015 Ford Focus Redesigned For NYIAS Debut

Adam Burpee on

It's going to be an exciting few weeks for Ford; Not only is the all-new Focus four door sedan making its debut at the 2014 New York International Auto Show, but the Focus earned the "Best Selling Vehicle Nameplate" award for the second year in a row.

The all new Focus four door sedan has been significantly redesigned, with a more distinctive interior design that features a collection of technologies not usually found in a compact vehicle. Additionally, the exterior has been shaped up and Ford's award-winning 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine has been added as a powertrain option. Fuel ratings have yet to be announced, but Ford expects the EcoBoost powertrain option to improve the standard for fuel efficiency amongst non-hybrid compacts. more

Stanley Yee on

The 2015 Ford Focus has been given a freshened redesign, and perhaps more importantly, the same 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine from the Fiesta. The optional downsize will bring improved fuel economy to the new Focus, with little to no compromises.

Ford's 1.0L EcoBoost has been the talking point of engines for quite some time now. The tiny, turbocharged three-cylinder has been praised for being fuel efficient, seemingly without any compromise in power. more

Ford Goes Custom Crazy With Mustang, Focus At SEMA

Ryan ZumMallen on

Always one of the most creative automakers at the SEMA show, Ford did not disappoint this year, bringing out a host of wild Mustang, Focus, Fiesta and other models that combine flash with tasteful design.

As usual, the Ford concepts bent toward performance, with plenty of bulging fenders and intimidating front ends that put some muscle behind the Blue Oval. Perhaps most interesting were their paint schemes, though, which ranged from a creamsicle white/orange combo to the copper accents on the Bad Penny Mustang concept. And that’s before we even mention the vans. more

Adam Burpee on

Following a recent slump in sales, Ford subtracted $4,000 from the 2014 Ford Focus Electric's MSRP to help reconnect with customers and remain a competitive member of the EV market. The new price is $35,995, which can be lessened even more to $28,495 since the Focus Electric is eligible for a $7500 federal tax credit.

The Focus Electric is powered by a 143 horsepower electric motor with a 23 kilowatt lithium ion battery and a single-speed drivetrain. It can be charged in about two and a half hours with the 240-volt charger or 20 hours from a 120-volt outlet. It's max range is 76 miles and its top speed is 84 mph. more

Is Greater Range Around The Corner For Electric Cars?
James M. Flammang on

Ordinarily, we don’t accept electric cars for test-drives on our home ground. For good reason, too: Living in an apartment, we have no way to charge a battery-powered vehicle. Neither is there any provision for charging at my office. As a result, only at Preview Drives for new models, and during special media events, have I been able to experience the growing crop of electrics. more
