On Friday, Lexus announced that it will be building its first U.S. assembled vehicle at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing facility in Georgetown, Kentucky. The first stateside Lexus ES 350 will roll off the assembly line in 2015, followed by 50,000 more Lexus models.
Toyota is sinking over $360 million into this endeavor, in hopes to create 750 U.S. jobs. Until the announcement, the Lexus line was exclusively manufactured in Japan. However, the luxury offshoot is American born. More...

When we heard that the all-new 2013 Lexus ES 350 wouldn’t share the Camry underpinnings, it really got our attention. Where was Lexus going with the new ES? Would they be throwing away a time-tested recipe for success? More...

A few weeks ahead of its official unveiling, the 2013 Lexus LS has made its first appearance. Kind of.
Lexus released a smoky teaser image of the upcoming flagship sedan on Wednesday, posting a darkened photo on their Facebook page (which seems to be the norm these days, after the SRT Viper leaked out over several weeks and the Mazda6 is being gradually released in Facebook videos). The image doesn’t tell us much, unless you expect the 2013 LS to be made out of dry ice.
But it does leave some interesting hints that the 2013 LS may be the most athletic and bold design since the model launched in 1989. Here are three things we can learn from the teaser image: More...

The American buying public largely associates the Lexus ES sedan with comfort and reliability. With the new 2013 ES 350 and 300h models, Lexus is hoping that a different term will be added to the list: Driving dynamics. But in a mid-sized sedan that has sold extremely well thanks to its predictability, is this the right move?
Don’t get the wrong idea; the ES 350 and 300h will still rely on a smooth ride and industry-leading safety. Lexus added 1.8 inches to the wheelbase for an even more luxurious ride, and offers ten airbags standard.
But they’re also trying to present the two new models as being more driver-involved, in an attempt to leave behind the “boring” stigma that has plagued the Toyota Camry – which the Lexus ES is based on – for the last few years. More...
