It’s only been out for a year, but the BMW M5 has been updated with a range of design and performance upgrades to give it an edge over sports sedan competition from Audi and Mercedes-Benz. The new M5 also offers a Competition Package, which we highly recommend. Here’s why.
The 2014 M5 is mighty powerful, with a 4.4L V8 engine making 560 horsepower through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, or a six-speed manual. With the new Competition Package, also offered on the 2014 M6, improvements have been made that boost output to 575 horsepower. There are also steering and design changes, too. Welcome to the world of M5 customization. More...

What do you think is the record for the longest drift? A few hundred feet? A few miles? A week ago, if you had guessed a few miles, you would have been correct. The BMW M5 (of course) shattered this record by quite a large distance last week.
At the BMW Performance Center in Greenville, South Carolina, the BMW M5 broke the Guinness World Record for the furthest distance travelled with a sustained drift. Instructor Johan Schwartz, who was manning the steering wheel, held his drift for 322.5 laps around the Performance Center Skid Pad totaling 51.278 miles. You read correctly. 51.278 miles. More...

The new 2013 BMW 6-Series has been a major success compared to the awkward outgoing model, but if you think your car needs a little extra attitude then look no further than the M Sport Edition package released this week.
The 6-Series M Sport takes the dynamic and athletic design and turns it up a notch, with an aerodynamics package, special 19-inch wheels, LED foglamps and much more. Will it turn your 650i into an M6? No. But not everyone needs an M6. Here’s your chance to capture that look in a bottle, though. More...

So here we are driving the BMW X1 Crossover, and we’re thinking about GM. OK, before you starting sending us nasty-grams, it’s not what you think. In the old days, GM was very big on offering something for everyone, with multiple brands, trim levels, a mind-boggling assortment of options, you name it.
Well a little financial fiasco has cleared that out, and we now have a much leaner product line on the domestic side. Which is interesting, because it seems like we’re getting a huge increase of product choices from BMW, Mercedes, and Audi. Take the X1 Crossover, for example. More...

Recently, Forbes announced its “World’s Most Powerful Brands” list, with Apple, Microsoft, and Coca-Cola taking the top three slots. BMW took the number nine spot behind General Electric, making the German automaker the most powerful automobile brand in the world. This is not the first time BMW has impressed Forbes Magazine. In June of last year, it was ranked as the No. 1 “most reputable company in the world” according to the publication.
Forbes tabulated their results based on a company’s financial metrics, brand perception, consumer perception, and brand value. They averaged all the scores together and recorded their findings. With a “brand value” averaged at $26.3 billion and a customer perception rank of five over all brands, BMW is a not only a leader in the luxury automobile market, but in the world automobile market – not bad for a once-struggling aviation company.
