After setting the record for electric vehicles at last year’s Pikes Peak Hill Climb with the TMG EVP002, Toyota is sending a modified version for this year’s race with hopes of one-upping its predecessor.
As with most sports competitions, you can learn just as much from a win as you can from a loss. TMG took this to heart when, after setting the record of 10 minutes and 15.38 seconds, transported the EV P002 back to the workshop to improve it further. It is currently on its way to North Carolina to the Toyota Racing Development plant to undergo aerodynamic modifications to the chassis and track testing before its next race. More...

Collaborations between brilliant people can yield great results – Linux and Chanel No. 5 come to mind. There are also collaborations we hope to forget – LL Cool J and Brad Paisley’s “Accidental Racist,” anyone? In the 1960s, minds at Toyota Motor Company and Yamaha Motor Company Limited came together to create one of the greatest cars ever made – the Toyota 2000GT. When this wonder car first appeared at the Tokyo Auto Show in 1965, the auto world was stunned. Japanese cars were the joke of the Western dominated auto industry, as they were dull, painfully practical copies of their foreign counterparts. The stunning 2000GT proved that Japan could create a sports car that rivaled European grand tourers. More...

The new 2014 Toyota 4Runner is returning to its rugged roots. For its thirty-year facelift, Toyota gave the mid-sized SUV a rougher façade while maintaining its comfortable, 7-passenger interior. The decision to stay with a truck-chassis and masculine mug is a risky move for Toyota, considering competitors Ford and Nissan deciding to go the crossover route with their mid-sized Explorer and Pathfinder models. Considering Toyota’s success with the crossover inspired Highlander, the car manufacturer isn’t breaking a sweat over the new 4Runner.
The 2014 Toyota 4Runner will come in three trims – the SR5, the luxurious Limited, and the off-road capable Trail. Other options offered to 4Runner owners include a series of powerful 4.0-liter, 270-horsepower V6 engine and full-time 4X4 handling. More...

Move over Coachella, Toyota is taking the stage in style. The redesigned 2014 4Runner mid-size SUV will be unveiled on Saturday, April 27 at the 2013 Stagecoach Music Festival in Indio, California. The event marks the automaker’s first unveiling at a music festival, and Toyota hopes premiering the redesigned SUV at the unconventional venue will score some attention.
For almost three decades, the Toyota 4Runner has been the crown jewel of the Toyota SUV line. When the 4Runner emerged onto the market in 1984, it was little more than a compact pickup truck with a fiberglass top. Over numerous redesigns, the 4Runner’s truck roots have been toned down. The newest generation is offered in three models: the SR5, the luxurious Limited, and the Trail grade for offroading fans. More...
