IndyCar – Grand Prix of Long Beach: One of America’s premier racing events took place over the weekend, and I was on hand to cover it for the eighth consecutive year (if you count the first time when I couldn’t get press passes so I snuck in – which I do). Downtown Long Beach is literally in my backyard, so it’s a particular pleasure to have something I’m so passionate about invade my city streets. The race is always a spectacle, and even when the action has been boring the weekend itself is just a giant party and who could complain about that? In recent years, though, the racing has actually measured up to the hype and this year was no exception. More...

Racing fever is sweeping through Southern California right now, as the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach is right around the corner with IndyCar, American Le Mans and other series headed to the street circuit this weekend. That means a whole lot of high-octane action, and it also means an enormous gathering of dedicated auto enthusiasts. At the Circle Porsche dealership on Wednesday night, one group of fans turned out for a kick-off event that doubled as an impromptu car show. Check out these photos of the night. More...
The oldest street race in North America kicks off this weekend as the Grand Prix of Long Beach is set to host about a half-dozen different racing series along the tight oceanside circuit. Pro racers in IndyCar, the American Le Mans Series, the Pirelli World Challenge, Fomula Drift and more will soon take to the track. But in the meantime, let’s all watch the 2012 Miss Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach strap in for a lap. More...

Formula One – Australian Grand Prix: Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen may be shocking and outrageous at times, but he is rarely wrong. That’s why there isn’t much uproar after he said that his win in the 2013 season opener at Albert Park was “one of the easiest races I’ve done.” Raikkonen got an excellent jump at the start in seventh place, and used a few brilliant overtakes to quickly make it near the front of the pack. After he was the only front-runner to save his tires enough to only need two pit stops, there was pretty much no stopping the quick Finn. More...

The ultimate sports car will sport a new look and wider body on racetracks around the world this year, as the 2013 Porsche 911 GT3 R has made its official debut before taking to the circuit.
Just because we’ve already seen the new 991 GT3 road car, recently debuted in Geneva, doesn't mean the 997 GT3 race car has to meet its end. The new 2013 GT3 R will be the final version of the car in its older, 997 guise. Porsche updated the look by widening the front and rear fender flares for a more muscled look. More...
