Use a wrench to loosen the fastener or pull the quick release then remove the negative battery terminal from the post. Place the terminal away from battery to prevent electrical contact. Be extremely careful not to let tools or other metal objects contact posts.

This end of the battery-cleaning tool is for removing corrosion from the posts. Steel teeth will make short work of ugly crud.

Push the battery-cleaning tool down onto the post and turn until teeth make contact. Rotate until clean.

Remove the cover to reveal the other end of the battery-cleaning tool. This end is for cleaning the terminals.

Insert tool into the terminal end and rotate until steel bristles make contact with the terminal. Continue until clean.

Clean residue from post and terminal with a rag and coat post with dielectric grease to prevent corrosion and promote good contact.

Repeat procedure for positive terminal and post. Re-install the positive, then the negative terminal.
